SPORTS 1100 cc  - NOW USING "RUSSELL ENGINEERING PISTONS"

This is easily our most popular package with cost, availability and drivability in mind. We've been using this combination since the late 1990's and it came about due to a number of reasons. 1275cc motors were and are now very hard to get a hold of, a lot of people couldn’t afford a rebuilt 1275 and the disc brakes needed to make it legal, more and more mini owners now own or have just purchased a budget mini or project car and the engine is the most important job needed. The Sports 1100 is a complete power unit – by that we mean an unleaded Cooper head, fully rebuilt short motor (flat top pistons), new clutch assembly, machined flywheel, rebuilt gearbox and diff, new oil and water pumps, re-ground modified camshaft, new followers, re-conditioned rocker gear and double valve springs.  All assembled and warranted. This unit will put out the same horsepower as a standard 1275 unit without needing disc brakes. It’s not a race motor, there’s plenty more you could do to it, but it’s just a more modern version of what BMC and Leyland produced in the 60’s and 70’s.

Some customers ask us if we can use their old gearbox, because it “seems okay”.  We prefer a reconditioned gearbox under our reconditioned motor so the oil pick-up feeds clean oil to your new engine (you can’t wash the gearbox out either by the way). Once you have done the job properly and as long as the mixtures are set up correctly you should have many years of reliability. When it comes time to sell, you’ll always get a good price with a specialist-built motor done properly than the old story of “my mate fitted a new set of rings".

 

  • 1293cc & 1360cc
  • These motors are available with a choice of camshaft: road, sports, and competition. Compression ratio approx. 10-1. These motors all come with double valve springs, a double timing chain assembly. Call for additional information.
  • 1380cc -1430cc
  • These motors involve offset boring the block and or stroking the crankshaft. More is involved for example coupling large journal crank to stroke, crack testing and heat treating it etc. Call for more details.

 SUPERCHARGED MOTORS

SUPERCHARGER KITS - BRAND NEW PRODUCT!!

For those people with a standard or mild 1275 motor in good condition that are chasing more power and don't necessarily need or want to strip & rebuild to higher specs, who also don't want an engine that has a loopy idle with power band starting at 2,500-3,000 RPM. Don't want overheating problems, bigger carbies, better exhaust, different dissie etc?
This kit requires NO body modifications & gives the driver a more modern delivery
of power without losing drivability!!
 
This V-MAX Supercharger kit is "bolt-on" and has been fitted to original Cooper S' with excellent power & torque increases of up to 40%. It provides instant torque as well as horsepower increases that give more power than a highly modified 1380 will ever supply, while still allowing normal driving around town. You can really go shopping in the morning & do a “hill climb” in the afternoon!
